Take time to recenter and reflect on what renews you in your professional and life work.
As leaders of civic and community engagement, we must invest the time to center and restore ourselves in order to sustain our commitment to the work of social change and transformation.
This retreat is open to anyone - administrators, faculty, students, and community engaged practitioners - affiliated with a Transform Mid-Atlantic member campus. Additionally, TMA is a member of Maryland NonProfits, and it is extending this opportunity to members of the Maryland NonProfits network.
Join TMA Executive Director Madeline Yates for this daylong silent retreat hosted at the Dayspring Silent Retreat Center* in Germantown, Maryland. In addition to a light breakfast and lunch, participants will have access to the Retreat Center's indoor and outdoor facilities, including "210 acres of rolling forests and fields [that] invite you to wander the paths, pause by the streams and ponds, rest on a bench in the shade, or walk the stone labyrinth". You can learn more about the Center and its ground by visiting the Center's webpage. Participants should wear comfortable clothing, bring along a journal and pencil/pen, and be prepared to engage in a day of silent reflection and restoration. Space is limited, but all community-engaged practitioners, faculty, and leaders from TMA member campuses are invited - regardless of whether this is your first or fiftieth experience of a silent retreat!
TMA's Spring 2024 Silent Retreat will be led by a facilitator and every effort will be made to ensure that the day is inclusive to individuals from all backgrounds, beliefs, and abilities. Participants will be expected to turn off their technology throughout the day, unless using a laptop or phone for journaling.
