Please join us for the Transform Mid-Atlantic (TMA) Turning Research into Action: Building Collaborative Solutions to Food Insecurity webinar on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, 2:00-3:00PM, featuring Dr. Yu-Wei Wang, Assistant Director of the Counseling Center at the University of Maryland, College Park.
Dr. Wang, who leads several large-scale, campus-wide research initiatives and partners with university leadership and stakeholders to advance efforts focused on student success, well-being, and basic needs, will be presenting on findings from the Food Access & Student Well-being Study at College Park and how this research helped support fundraising efforts that led to the establishment of UMD’s Campus Pantry. The Pantry, which has been supported by a TMA AmeriCorps VISTA grant, serves students, staff, and faculty experiencing food insecurity.
Dr. Wang also provided testimony in support of the Maryland Hunger-Free Campus (MHFC) Grant Program legislation. Since the bill’s passage in 2021, she and her collaborators at the Campus Pantry have secured MHFC grant funding to support food access initiatives at UMD.
